Continued Changes With Children

I have been seeing some kids with amazing brains. Children learn so quickly and learn what they are taught and sometimes, they stop at a point that doesn’t facilitate change that will give them the opportunity to move forward or anywhere for that matter. One young fellow was great at sitting with straight legs, but was unable to move his pelvis, bend his knees, support himself with his hands as they were very busy in his mouth. When he learned to bend his knees, move his pelvis, his hands started to come to the table more often, which brought him to move much more fluently. He is now creepy around, has much more enthusiasm to get to his toys, drink or food. It is awesome to see the spark in a child’s eye, how proud they become when they are ABLE to do more and be more because they learn to MOVE. Moshe always said, “Movement is life, without movement there is no life.” This to me is the spark in the child’s eye or the adult as well. When the spark is gone, we need to notice that and bring it back. Without purpose people don’t dare do anything, they don’t want to move forward, become depressed and change into being complacent or live with mediocrity. We are born to stand out, to be exceptional, to be dynamic. What can you do with your child? Notice when they are aware of their surroundings Engage your child where they are at Start to notice what their abilities are Laugh with them Play games and have fun When this doesn’t...

Life changes again!

I’m so excited after studying with Elinor Silverstein in May it is like my whole world has changed. The old saying, change the way you see the world and your world will change. As many of you know I continue to learn and evolve myself and my business. It feels like it has been a long time since I participated in a live training and it was so fulfilling. The learning was amazing and beyond what I expected. The above picture was Elinor doing the “heart hug”, created by Linda Tellington-Jones. It is a thing I have shared sometimes in class. We also learned how using the Feldenkrais (R) Method will increase oxytocin levels scientifically proven. Part of the study over the weekend was learning how the gut and brain function, increasing the mobility of our organs and digestive track. The touch is very gentle, such as the weight of half a grape. Using these gentle touches have created so many changes in the people I have worked with since that time and with myself as well. Just a thought to entertain, if there are any tight muscle touching another muscle can this cause the other muscle to be tight? For instant if your psoas muscle is tight and acting more like fascia than a flexible muscle, how will this affect the use of your diaphragm, your kidneys, your liver and other vital organs? Sometimes new learning like this takes a while to digest, but when I saw first hand the immediate changes to someone that had excruciating shoulder pain and a challenge breathing for more than three months...

Post Stroke Session With My Brother 12 days post stroke.

On day 12 post stroke with my brother he had already started doing movements that made it feel more comfortable for him to sit in the wheelchair all day, so we turned that into a movement lesson. I was using the pelvis as 6 and 12 o’clock. 6 o’clock being the pelvic bone and 12 o’clock the belly button and rocking back and forth between the two. I also add 3 and 9 o’clock to get the pelvis moving in a way that the pelvis works when you are walking. The pelvis moves in a figure eight movement natural when we are walking with ease and grace, so adding this to him sitting in the chair made perfect sense. For him at this time his left arm and left leg are not wired in his brain so getting these connections help rewire the brain in a positive way a little quicker. We also added doing a pelvic clock, one way and than the other way. I added having his hands on one leg then switch them to the other leg. This adds counter lateral movement which creates even more new neuro connections. This is one of the Nine Essentials created by Anat Baniel called variation which is a great way to communicate with the brain and create more neuro connections. A positive mental attitude and family support is also very important for recovery as well as the severity of the stroke. I am feeling blessed that my brother is looking forward to recovery and getting home. This is important. For more information of how movement will help with stroke,...

Working with an Entrepreneur!

“Changes help to create powerful new insights and cognitions that enhance your business practices.”  Karen Toth   While taking my business to a new market, it was extremely amazing to see the results work with an entrepreneur. It was very helpful that Lisa Reaume came to me as an enthusiastic, open and ready person.  She complained of upper back pain.  Pain is a consistent firing in the brain, making doing her business “very hard”.  With this noise of pain running in the background of Lisa’s brain, the focus on her business suffered. What you do one way, is the way you do everything! Lisa described the lesson as feeling the connection (or flow) through her body, much like water being blocked by a beaver dam or a canal.  “If you are not flowing well, you will not be able to do the work, inside or outside”. We often say “I’m stopping myself, I know what I should be doing, why am I not doing it?”  Some entrepreneurs don’t take the time to look for practitioners like me to open up the doors and unblock the “flow”.  Entrepreneurs don’t like asking for help and feel they should be doing it all by themselves, and then spiral into not doing anything at all. It is important to open ourselves up to the flow of energy, of the universe and the earth, inside and outside for new ideas to make our tasks easy and effortless.  I asked Lisa to share if she had any ideas “pop” into her mind as I was moving her  body and opening up the “flow”.  She was...
